About Carpinteria State Beach
Carpinteria, California is a small city located along the ocean. It is located between the larger cities of Santa Barbara and Oxnard. The area was originally inhabited by the Chumash Indians. There are several things to do and see while visiting this enchanting city.
The Carpinteria State and City Beaches have been designated as one of the fifty top beaches in the country. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities along the beaches. Swimming, fishing, body surfing, and animal watching are among the most popular things to do.
People can see old tar pit mines along the beach. They can also view oil drilling rigs off in the distance. These oil drilling platforms make up the Carpinteria Offshore Oil Field. Several islands can also be seen off in the horizon from the beaches in this small city.
Visitors can also see various wildlife from the beaches of Carpinteria. December through May offers individuals an opportunity to see many seals and sea lions. The Harbor Seal Reserve provides these animals with a place to spend winters and breeding seasons. The area is closed to humans. However, the animals can be viewed from many scenic view points along the Carpinteria Bluffs area.
Another popular destination to visit, within the city, is the Salt Marsh Reserve. This area allows individuals to walk along the trail that circles the salt water marsh. Various plants and animals can be viewed along this short walk.

Customers can also find items that were made by locals. The restaurants provide a variety of options for dining experiences. Santa Barbara and Oxnard are both a short drive from the area and provide additional opportunities for shopping and dining.
